2022.01.26 03:08 Leashthis More affordable pens similar to MB or Pilot Falcon?

Ever since a professor of mine let me handle his MB Meisterstuck 146, I've been enamored with that classy look and quality gold nib but, being a student, very put off by the price point. I've been looking at planning out for a Pilot Falcon in gold and black, but even with discounts and saving up it would be a huge dent in my budget. I understand the gold nib may just be too much at this point, and I may just need to put this particular fascination off til I can afford a used MB or similar. But still, what recommendations have y'all got?

2022.01.26 03:08 Confident_Can_3397 Seriously -- what should I read to get the hell scared out of me??

Would be most grateful if anyone can reccomend a great horror book that will do the job and actually frighten or disturb me. It's been a while since I found anything that could do the trick, but here's a list of a few horror books I read recently that are my kind of thing:
The Troop by Nick Cutter Gone to See the River Man, and Full Brutal by Kristopher Triana Wraiths of the Broken Land by S. Craig Zahler The Fisherman by John Langan Last Days by Adam Neville The Ruins by Scott Smith The Summer I Died
Many thanks if anyone can suggest something along these lines!

2022.01.26 03:08 RealLapisWolfMC Do I have auditory aphantasia?

I can like play words in my head, but it’s definitely nothing like hearing it for real. Like I can also play sounds but they definitely don’t seem anywhere close to real. The closest I can do to hear things that aren’t there is sort of modulate the pitch of a background sound with my mind, if that makes sense. But even this is minimal. Do I have an auditory aphantasia as well? I know very well I cannot visualize but it’s a bit different with audio and I can’t seem to tell that easily.

2022.01.26 03:08 Regrettingthisname I have about 30 assignments due, what do I do?

Every time before I sleep I will always say "tomorrow I will do the assignments/projects!" but the next day it just keeps on adding up and I have absolute no motivation to do it. I really want to go do it but for some reason I really just can't, I'm trying to force myself to do maybe at least one due but not even 1 minute I just get distracted in doing other things (Playing games, watching tiktok, etc) and I really don't want to fail

2022.01.26 03:08 nousernamesleft001 What is the greater evil, 83-84 degrees during the day with 31% to 40% humidity or harvesting early?

Title kind of says it all, but about 2 weeks (on the low end of the breeders estimate of 9 to 11 weeks) left, probably 80% cloudy trichomes on the calyxes, not an amber in site, all pistles are red and shriveled except in the lowest larfy buds that don't get much light.
Temp is 83-84 during the day and right now I can't change that much, humidity bounces between 31 and 40. Next round I'm going to work on some ways to better control my environment, but I'm not going to be able to do that before this one is done because life. The fan leaves coming out of the buds have all cupped, turned up, got crispy, and crumbled off, some sugar leaves too. The buds themselves feel wet still, but they are like auto trimmers theirselves with how much leaf is breaking off. I'm happy with how the buds look now, other than not being matured all the way (large, crystally, dense). I've tried raising the light, but didn't change things much.
Way I see it, I have 3 options for this round, harvest early and accept that it will hurt quality (though I am a sativa guy and I won't be crushed if the potency is just so so). I can use the potentiometer to lower the light intensity and in turn heat (LED lights, but small tent in a warm space). Or I can wait it out and let the higher heat and lower humidity do whatever damage it may do.
Not sure what option is the best, low light doesn't sound good, high heat high humidity doesn't sound good, and harvest too early doesn't sound good haha. I'm new to this so I would rather have something than nothing for sure. I more than doubled my yield over my first grow so just getting it to survive is a win, and I made and learned from a lot of mistakes on this one, just don't know how disappointed I would be if I harvest early. BTW this isn't an impatient thing, I'm worried I might do more damage waiting.
Last thought, if I harvested say a 3rd soon, and 3rd a week later, and a 3rd when I see amber trichs, will I just stress the plant plant fuck out or will I have a nice little array of harvest window to test and learn from? Any advice is appreciated!

2022.01.26 03:08 AllTheWorstOfMe Am I responsible to return money received through a banking error

I'm planning for a trip to Mexico soon, and through my bank's website (Simplii) placed an order for 4000 pesos.(~250CAD) The cost in CAD was withdrawn from my account, and a few days later I went to the post office, received a mailer with my name and address on it, opened it up and found an order receipt for another person as well as the $300 USD corresponding to that receipt. Straight away I contacted the bank, who after some calls back and forth instructed me to have the local CIBC branch take back the cash through internal mail and that my money order would be refunded. The CIBC branch manager essentially told me that they don't send cash through internal mail, don't mail things to Simplii in general(?), and all in all would not be assisting me. I called Simplii back and was informed they "Weren't sure how I should return the money" and "Would get back to me when they figured it out." At this point, that hasn't happened and my money order has not been refunded.
At what point does my obligation to be a good Samaritan and run around trying to sort out the bank's issue run out? I'm becoming more sorely tempted by the day to convert the money I have for the trip and wash my hands of the whole thing.

2022.01.26 03:08 YakultGreenTeaa My boyfriend is SERIOUSLY attractive but he doesn’t think he is.

My (23F) boyfriend (23M) is seriously attractive, and everyone Ive introduced him to has thought he is. He’s a really nice height (5’9, about 6 inches taller than me), has a strong cut jaw, deep blue eyes, blonde hair, unnecessarily nice sideburns, and a boyish smile. I shit you not, he looks exactly like a younger pre-stubble Chris Evans. He has broad shoulders + a wider frame and is muscular from working out for these last few years; kinda like the Dorito shape. ;u;
He grew up in a community where everyone is insanely tall (6ft+) and liked more westernized social activities like sitting around fires and things. He’s a bit more introverted and has a nerdy side that his friends don’t really share too much of; hes also a naturally blunt/straightforward person and isn’t afraid to speak his mind. Because he was kinda the odd-one out, he wasn’t really given much attention from girls especially since he was shorteskinnier when he was young. He took that time to bulk up and worked out, all the while pursuing his career and working on himself.
It always struck me as odd that he wouldn’t agree with me on the fact that he was attractive. He blushes when I compliment him and puts himself down. But,,, I think its bc he’s always felt outshined by his friends bc his community has a physical “type”. Maybe that’s why he always felt insecure. But to me (and many others I know outside of that community), they think that hes seriously attractive. Nowadays, he’s gained more self confidence, and it’s changed him and made him even more attractive. People sneak looks at him a lot too.
One day I really hope he can see how wonderful and attractive he is as a whole. He’s literally proven to everyone how much he’s changed and grown up, and one day I want him to understand how amazing he really is and to have that self confidence he deserves.

"Owning our story can be hard but not nearly as difficult as spending our lives running from it. Embracing our vulnerabilities is risky but not nearly as dangerous as giving up on love and belonging and joy—the experiences that make us the most vulnerable. Only when we are brave enough to explore the darkness will we discover the infinite power of our light." -Brene Brown

2022.01.26 03:08 avant-bored We should normalize shorter life spans.

For most of the existence of modern humans we did not live long past peak fertility. I was looking at a study of adult mortality in patagonia that suggested most people who made it out of childhood were dead by thirty-eight.
I think this implicit suggestion that we should seek to lead more complicated longer lives, peak later, and cling to life is madness.
We spend decades in school and chasing promotions in a life cycle that makes no sense. By the time a surgeon is ready to begin their career most hunter gatherers would be grandparents and living the last few years of their life.
I don’t want it. It’s perverse.
